Character Name:
Character Canon: Detective Conan
Character Age: 17
History: Here is a provided summary of his canon involvement in the series. At your own discretion, there is also a brief player written synopsis of his history in the manga
Canon Point: Ch. 840
Personality:
Heiji is unlike your average teenage boy, he enjoys the thrill of mysteries and solving their secrets to reveal the truth. Most people, when encountering a corpse, become frightened and squeamish whereas Heiji is readily available to jump into the scene. No matter how subtle or gruesome the victims passing might have been, Heiji spares no time into looking for the cause. Dedicated to exposing the culprit, Heiji has landed himself into some dicey situations. That being said, he accepts the dangers of his career choice without so much as a second thought. His competition with Kudo keeps him on his feet and drives him to try and solve cases well before Kudo although this isn't always the case.

At first, Heiji was rather negligent if a culprit killed themselves after being found out. During a case with Kudo where Kudo prevented a woman from committing suicide, Heiji said. "Maybe we shoulda let her die." In which Kudo responded, "A detective who corners someone with logic, but lets them commit suicide...is no different from a murderer." Since then, Heiji has followed this, and during another case where a culprit was going to shoot himself in the head, Heiji intervened and wound up taking a bullet to the abdomen because of it. Ultimately he will no longer allow the guilty kill themselves.

Born as a prodigy, Heiji is gifted with an abundance of knowledge. Learning, for him, comes with relative ease. Like Kudo, Heiji also has an eidetic memory. Meaning any detail he has encountered prior to the present can be recalled, no matter how small and insignificant it might seem. He bears an endless fountain of trivial knowledge that becomes useful in his day-to-day mystery solving. This knowledge can be anywhere from the process of decomposition to facts about baseball.

Heiji is described to be impulsive and even a bit absent-minded at times. Unlike Kudo, he's hot-blooded and quick to lose his temper. Heiji lacks patience and can become easily agitated if things deviate from good-standing. While he is capable of maintaining a calm disposition, his temper can still surface enough to become noticeable. Hakuba berated Heiji for his imprudence regarding a crime when Heiji disrupted the crime scene. However, this did not fully compromise the deduction as he was still able to figure out the killer. The culprit herself complimented him on it, saying she didn't know detectives like him still existed.

Heiji lacks respect for higher authority. When his father punched Heiji to the ground, he belittled him and told him to go home because this case wasn't his business. (Keeping in mind that Heizo is the highest ranking officer at the Osaka Prefectural Police.) Instead, Heiji rebelled and continued working on it despite his father's action. He also has a knack for calling his mom old woman, and he doesn't even properly address Kogoro with an honorific which is considered rude in Japanese culture. This isn't his worse display at engaging others he disagrees with. His bountiful knowledge has lead him to act somewhat superior. Heiji addresses people around him "morons" or "idiots" and even yell at them, and even going as far as calling his own mother an idiot. When Kogoro and Ran banged on his door during his nap he opened it to yell at them. When Ran and Kazuha, or even just Ran alone pester and nag him he'll tell them how annoying they are.

Contrary to Kudo, Heiji is more expressive by nature. His emotions are worn at the sleeve, and it's obvious whether he's happy or upset. He is often seen prompting, instigating, or lightly playing with others, or Kudo, to do things. This behavior amplifies when he's trying to sneak around the others to eagerly speak to Kudo. Naturally, this makes more of a people person than the famed detective of the East (Kudo).

When Heiji first met Kudo, he was nothing more than a rival to be challenged at every turn. Heiji deeply respected Kudo for his intellect and ability to solve complicated cases, but also resented him for it. Heiji aspires to be a great detective and is famed in the Kansai region just as Kudo is in Kanto. Through their time spent together in dangerous situations and solving cases together, Heiji has since bonded with his rival. Not only will he go out of his way to protect his newfound friend, but he will also challenge his own convictions. Such as when he thought Kudo became a murder. Heiji will lend aid when Kudo shifts between his original self and child self to keep his tracks hidden and prevent his cover from being blown. Incidentally, Heiji will sometimes nearly blow this cover as well because he is incapable of remembering to address him as "Conan" and often invents a cover for the use of "Kudo".

His fondness doesn't just extend to Kudo alone (although he is unusually obsessive over his friend). Heiji addresses and treats Ran (Kudo's best friend) as if she were his sister, and respects her deeply. Heiji also yields kindness toward Kazuha, hid childhood best friend. Heiji is naturally overprotective of her and will do irrational things to see to it that she goes unharmed. When they were in a hanging off the cliff side by a branch Kazuha wanted Heiji to live on. Another during the time they both were held hostage in an attic. Heiji continually antagonized the female lawyer and so he was the only one physically harmed. The length that he would go to to protect Kazuha is limitless as she one of the important people in his life. While not usually displayed, Heiji has become protective of Ran as well. While his bonds may not be as strong with her as they are for Kudo and Kazuha, he had spent a considerable amount of time with her, and she is the most important person to Kudo.

Heiji makes it vehemently clear that he doesn't believe in the misconception of curses, magic, and ghosts. To him, it's a trick and there must be a logical explanation for it. Folklore and scary stories hardly scare him because he doesn't believe them. Of course, when uncovering such nonsense with truth, how can he believe it? When they were at a magic show with the girls they were theorizing explanations as to how the magician was pulling the stunts on the stage. In spite of his persistent belief that things outside of logic are a fallacy, he does carry a charm gifted to him from Kazuha. Luck appears to be the only improbability that Heiji has extended a belief for. He will sometimes blame the charm on his horrible luck as he is often injured during the cases he solves with Kudo.

Heiji is oblivious to the concept of love when it's directed toward him. His understanding of women (especially Ran and Kazuha) shift depending on the subject. Heiji has some questionable insight in other things, such as when he was in Okinawa with Kudo. The two were deducting bathing suits based on the composure and appearance of women. Kudo was wrong the majority of the time while Heiji was able to guess their suit correctly. Kazuha will continually give him hints about her feelings for him, but he doesn't always catches on. Heiji foolishly mistook a 'nervous almost confession' with 'feeling hungry'. Her feelings aren't unrequited and his emotions do run deep for her. There were some moments where he wanted to confess to her, but chickened out half way and changed the subject to something ridiculous instead.
Abilities:
Heiji is a born prodigy, and thus is knowledgeable. On top of that, he has eidetic memory.
He is ranked among the highest (in his class) when it comes to kendo, and Heiji has utilized this practice on criminals.
Inventory:
cellphone
handkerchief
Samples: [Recursion] First Person
[Recursion] Third Person

Aspirations: I want Heiji to help solve the mysteries that are taking place in game. (Naturally, he's a detective.) That being said, I also hope he'll come around to accepting the supernatural events that occur around him without him being able to excuse it or write it off. Forming negative CR comes easy with a character like him, so I can't wait to try and generate more positive relations with other characters as well as allow him to continue to grow as a person who not only sheds light to the truth, but extends a helping hand to those in need.
